The New Ballards Branch Bogtrotters

The New Ballards Branch Bogtrotters will perform our Spring Concert on Sunday, May 4, 2025 at 4pm. The current Bogtrotters have been playing Oldtime Mountain Music in the Galax, Virginia area since 1986, but the original Bogtrotters got together in the 1920’s, and won the very first Old Fiddlers Convention in Galax in 1935.

Today’s musicians include (left to right) Carolina Noel Beverly, mandolin and vocals; Dennis Hall, band leader and guitarist; Eddie Bond, fiddle and vocals; Bonnie Bond, bass and vocals, and Josh Ellis, banjo and vocals. Fiddler Eddie Bond was awarded the National Heritage Fellowship from the National Endowment for the Arts in 2018, the highest award given to a folk artist by the U.S. Government.

The Bogtrotters have performed for the Smithsonian Folk Festival, Chicago Folk Festival, Great Lakes Folk Festival, Montana Folk Festival, Kennedy Center and the Gainesboro, England Festival. Since 1986, they have placed first in the Galax Old Fiddlers Convention a total of ten times.
